General questions
How do you handle client monies?

We are a “neutral “ platform, and as such do not hold monies on behalf of any party. Our role is to help our clients, businesses that are looking for finance, to find suitable finance providers (you can view our list of lenders here).

Is my data secure on the Finpoint platform?

We take data protection very seriously. Starting with the IT systems we use, all the way through our business we take care to protect your data in a responsible way through proportionate policies and measures.

Our platform is hosted in a secure cloud environment with a widely recognised provider that is certified under ISO 27001. On that basis we are able to maintain high data security standards to protect your business and personal data from unauthorised access. We do not sell or rent your data to third parties. Your business and personal data is only ever shared in accordance with our Terms of Use and Data Protection notices, which we encourage you to review in the first instance for any questions you might have about the way we collect, process and use personal data.

Any UK-based business is welcome to post their finance requirements anonymously on our platform; this includes Sole Traders, Partnerships, Limited and Public companies.

A full list of the types of legal structures that are available in the UK along with information about each structure is available on www.gov.uk

Where a user acts as advisor to an organisation with a view to arrange finance, we reserve the right to request evidence from the user about their credit broking permission or evidence about being exempt from FCA regulation.

Will I be charged for using the Finpoint platform?

We have a clear, easy-to-follow fee structure. The use of the platform is free of charge for businesses and any professional advisors.

The platform is also free of charge to lenders. Only upon successful completion of a transaction will we get paid by our funding partner. Thanks to our online-centric operating model, our fees are well below market average. The exact fee we make is dependant on the type of finance product (debt or equity) and the term of the arrangement. Our fees range from 1% to 5% of the total amount funded, full details are available in our Terms of Use.

Businesses applying for funding
Do I have to search for lenders on FInpoint?

No. With us, they find you! It's a bit like a dating platform, only here companies with financing requirements are matched with lenders. At first, lenders see all the submitted financing projects anonymised and filtered according to their individual criteria. They then indicate interest in suitable financing projects. All the data is disclosed after accepting a non-disclosure agreement (NDA). The two parties are then in direct contact and can hold detailed talks.
Does Finpoint offer finance itself?

No, Finpoint itself does not underwrite any transactions or lend any money.

Finpoint Limited  provides an intermediary service that matches SMEs funding criteria with lenders online. This process saves businesses and their advisors time by sourcing competitive debt and equity finance solutions in minutes.
How can I invite my advisor to join my financing project?

You can send an email within the platform to your accountant or any other type of advisor.

Once your advisor receives the email from Finpoint, they are directed to register online and are then able to see the data you have entered. After successful registration, advisors have access to your project data and can create, edit and publish.

We are a “neutral “ platform, and as such do not hold monies on behalf of any party. Our role is to help our clients, businesses that are looking for finance, to find suitable finance providers (you can view our list of lenders here).
Is Finpoint another ‘peer-to-peer’ or ‘crowd-funding’ platform?

No, we do not lend money ourselves. We work as 'aggregator' of banks and alternative business funding providers. As such, we do not fund projects but instead work to understand your requirements and to best match these with the most relevant funding options available for each business.

Our online platform helps you to create a finance project in minutes. It is free to use the platform, and if you follow the guidance we provide you increase your chances of getting funding.  This is because the platform contains our knowledge of what type of data our lenders need to make a quick in-principle decision.

Lastly, it is worth pointing out that our platform anonymises all your data until you allow a lender access to your details. This additional protection, before a funder can contact you directly or see your financing project in full, is our way to ensure you are in control of the process and have a clear understanding of the data you need to provide to funders.
What happens to the data I give you?

Your data is only ever stored centrally on the Finpoint platform and processed in accordance with our Terms of Use and Data Protection notice. Our overriding principle to handling your data is to respect anonymity, with maximum data security and data storage.

The operator of the platform is Finpoint Limited, a UK-based firm that is accredited by the Financial Conduct Authority (FCA firm reference number (FRN) 727163) and the Information Commissioniers Office (ICO registration number ZA111677).
What is the average financing amount businesses ask for?

Since any type and size of business can post a finance request on the Finpoint platform, we see a wide variety of amounts being requested which makes it difficult to give out meaningful data about ‘averages’.

Also, since each business is unique, we are conscious of not wanting to discourage other businesses from posting their own specific finance requirements. To get help from our finance experts on how to apply, please visit the contact page.

Questions from Advisors
One of my clients invited me to his finance project. What shall I do?

Usually, accountants or advisors are invited by businesses to financing projects for their respective expertise. This is done by means of an email sent to you from within the platform. Once validated, Advisors have access to your client’s project or financing data and can restructure, modify or publish it.

If you are already registered with Finpoint, the platform will recognise you and you can just log in.
Can I add my client’s finance projects on Finpoint?

Yes, once you have an account all you need to do is to create a new funding project and confirm that you are authorised by the business to act on their behalf and that you understand your responsibilities for the data you enter.
How many clients can I manage on the Finpoint platform?

From just one Advisor account you can help any number of business clients to clearly, professionally and attractively present their funding requirements.
What regulation applies to Advisors using the Finpoint platform?

It is the responsibility of the advisor user to ensure they hold suitable permissions for their own commercial activities and to advise Finpoint when such a permission ceases to be valid. To notify us of a change in your regulatory status, please use our contact page.

Registering on the Finpoint platform as advisor or using the platform as advisor does not extend the FCA permission of Finpoint Limited to any advisor users.

Where a user acts as advisor to an organisation with a view to arrange finance, we reserve the right to request evidence from the user about their credit broking permission or evidence about being exempt from FCA regulation.

For information about the FCA and the relevant regulation for credit broking, please visit www.fca.org.uk/firms/credit-broking-rules
Questions from Funders
Can companies see me listed as a lender?

At first, companies can only see and edit their own profile. They cannot see other companies or lenders. However, when you indicate interest in a finance project, the company receives an alert with the name of your financial institution and the option to accept or decline the connection request.
Can I give colleagues access to my projects?

Yes, the Finpoint platform lets you invite colleagues. Once they register, they are automatically assigned to your financial institution and can collaborate with you on finance projects.
Does Finpoint accept liability for incorrect or incomplete company data?

No. Each user is responsible for their finance project and the data contained in it as stipulated in our Terms of Use.

Finpoint Limited reserves the right to suspend user accounts or finance projects permanently if we become aware of a breach of our Terms of Use. Alternatively, we may need to suspend access for selected users on a temporary basis to investigate suspicious activity that may compromise the reputation, stability or security of the platform.
